Nohria, chairman of the Organizational Behavior unit at HBS, and reengineering pioneer Champy have joined forces for this, their second book, a well-written study of drive and ambition as they apply not only to executives but also to leaders and achievers in many walks of life. The careers of ambitious people, they write, typically follow a predictable path the "arc of ambition." Using examples from Andrew Carnegie to Gandhi to Sam Walton, they explore "the mysterious process whereby great men and women emerge, often from obscurity, to trace their own arcs of ambition."
