A Time for Leadership: Global Perspectives from an Accelerated Market Place

How the skills of European business leaders must change in the new millennium
    8/21/2000
European executives' old style of leadership, developed over many decades on a country-by-country basis, won't cut it in the new millennium, says Childress. To gain perspective on how the skills of European business leaders must change, he and his staff interviewed more than 50 chief executives and senior leaders of major European corporations. The result is this book, built on five new leadership principles: leadership cannot reside at the top, but must be distributed throughout the organization; a healthy culture impacts performance in a positive way; corporate brand and culture must match; an organization will reflect the behaviors of its leaders and senior management team; and those in leadership positions must achieve a balanced life to be successful and make their company so.
