Career Creativity: Explorations in the Remaking of Work

Where your career and creativity intersect.
    9/30/2002
Examining how careers and creativity intersect, this edited volume discusses the nature of careers themselves and their influence upon the larger institutions of work and society. The first four chapters observe creative careers: Perspectives range from the consideration of careers from metaphorical perspectives to examining part-time work arrangements as a way to achieve work-life balance. Other issues debated include the dualities of individualistic career ambition versus connectedness with collective organizations; planning careers purposefully under uncertain circumstances; and achieving resilience when faced with career disappointment. The fourth section explores careers in creative industries such as a portrait of the symbiotic careers of Spanish filmmakers Pedro and Agustin Almodovar.
