Although the book is accessible, some readers may find the blow-by-blow details of meetings and meals distracting ("We were served soup in lidded white bowls with blue rims and glasses of jasmine tea followed by the restaurant's namesake, Beijing duck..."). Still, China Dawn gives a sense of the momentum and the hunger for opportunity.
