    CIO Wisdom II

    3/13/2006

CIO Wisdom II: More Best Practices is a comprehensive follow-up to a related volume from 2003 that focused exclusively on Silicon Valley best practices. For this new book, Phillip Laplante and Thomas Costello collected articles by information technology managers addressing, among many other topics, the challenges chief information officers face in their roles as change agents, technical advocates, and leaders. Other discussions tailored to the CIO perspective include outsourcing, Internet readiness, globalization, software, return on investment, and marketing. All in all, this guide is a practical resource for CIOs, whatever their industry.

Phillip Laplante is director of the CIO Institute, an executive education program associated with Carnegie Mellon. Thomas Costello is founder of UpStreme, a tech consultancy.
