Corporate governance from a Japanese perspective.
11/25/2002
The author, a lecturer at the University of Cambridge with much international experience under his belt, particularly in Japan, studied the corporate governance practices of fourteen Japanese companies for this book. Learmount believes that the Japanese perspective, which owes a great deal to mutual trust and reciprocal obligations, may help other executives sift through the many thorny issues of corporate governance. Chapters cover contemporary views of the Japanese business scene, and relationships between Japanese companies and their banks, shareholders, employees, and directors. The approach is more theoretical than practical, but readers may come away with some food for thought.
