    Business blogger John Jantsch, a Kansas City marketing consultant, has built quite a following with his Duct Tape Marketing site. The blog provides small-business readers with successful marketing techniques that don't require a large budget to execute.

    In recent posts, for example, topics ranged from using the vCard standard to add business card information to your e-mails to giving an effective media interview.

    We liked Jantsch's tip on how to build stronger relationships with clients by first tracking down some of their personal interests. Enter those keywords into the Google or Yahoo alert services and you'll receive e-mails with the latest news on that subject. Concludes Jantsch: “So when an industry guru makes a prediction for the future of your prospect's industry, or when a college you are tracking signs a blue-chip recruit, you can drop a little note to your client or prospect. Now who do you think they are they going to remember come order time?”

    Jantsch writes frequently about products he uses and likes, conducts podcasts with authors and service providers, and provides a smart list of links to other sites of interest to small-business operators.

    Archives can be searched by some thirty topic categories including copywriting, customer service, Internet marketing, positioning, and search engines.
