A pocket guide for family businesses.
10/29/2001
Written by two lawyers, Family Business Basics addresses areas that are of particular concern to family businesses: succession planning (succession of both management and ownership), estate planning, long-term planning, and selling a family business. The book is slim, and in no way takes the place of professional advice, but clearly lays out the issues to consider, describes alternatives, and provides concise definitions of legal terms. Endofchapter checklists are useful tools for assessing necessary action. Clearly worth the time to read it for those involved in family businesses that expect to be around for more than one generation.
