Forbes asked ten economists, scientists, Nobel laureates, and Wall Street leaders their thoughts on the most important advances "that have radically changed the ways in which people make money." The selected innovations include the advent of CNN (chosen by Ted Turnershocker!), relaxation of stock exchange listing requirements (Alan Chernow), and nationwide distribution of electricity (H. Ross Perot). For sheer volume of votes, however, the computer ranks number one according to the panelalthough former Apple Computer Chairman John Sculley picked the automobile. For the record, Harvard Business School's Dean, Kim Clark, chose modular design of complex information systems. If you have your own ideas, you can chime in on the bulletin board.
