    Garage.com

An online matchmaker looks inside the startup process.
    4/4/2000
Garage.com is one of the more prominent Internet matchmakers, bringing together carefully screened technology investors with entrepreneurs and their startup ideas. But even if you can't pass muster to get into the "Garage" (the startup area) or "Heaven" (where the investors are), there are reasons to visit the Garage.com site. Founders Guy Kawasaki, Rich Karlgaard, and Craig Johnson have loaded the Garage.com site with insights and information about seed and venture financing and startup related issues. Most of it is in the Forums sections, with articles and questions & answers on accounting and consulting, commercial banking, insurance, law, and venture capital. Each area is hosted by a sponsoring firm with expertise on the subject. Some of them haven't been refreshed in a while, but even these are full of good, solid background on the startup process. Also worth a visit is the Newsroom section. There's news about Garage.com, of course, but there are also two good collections of links to articles in other publications. Stories from Hell looks at startup failures; Geoff's Gems, compiled daily by Garage.com's Geoff Baum, gathers more general stories of high tech and entrepreneurial news.
