Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets and Solutions, fourth edition

Hackers and what you can do to ward them off.
    4/14/2003
Hackers, even the so-called white hat variety, cost companies billions of dollars a year in IT expenses, lost revenue, and bad publicity. This book, which debuted in 1999 and is now in its fourth edition, provides clear writing about how attacks are designed and executed as well as the effectiveness or lack thereof of countermeasures. The new edition adds material on the latest exploits including XSS attacks and SQL injection. It also evaluates the vulnerabilities of such new technology as Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and the latest versions of Apache. The book also looks at protective technologies. A CD of the authors' "Hacking Exposed Live" presentation is included.
