"It's not just for manufacturers anymore!"
    9/25/2000
The ISO 9000 international quality standard is usually associated with manufacturing firms, but as this excellent guide from Industry Canada makes clear, its use can be of interest to service companies, too. Part of a broader document called "The Quality Journey," the guide begins with background information on the ISO program in general and ISO 9000 in particular. It then moves on to the advantages of ISO 9000 certification and the different processes for manufacturing and service firms. The guide also cites examples of the standard's use in specific service sectors, including restaurants, health care, financial services, and consulting.
