An initiative of the Lemelson Foundation, Invention Dimension is a Web site created and maintained by the Lemelson-MIT Awards Program. Jerome Lemelson (1923-1997) was a prolific inventor and philanthropist dedicated to fostering and "inspiring the next generation of inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs". In addition to information about the Lemelson-MIT Awards program administered by MIT and based at the Sloan School, the site is replete with useful and fascinating information about inventors and invention in the United States. Inventor of the Week features a profile of a selected inventor with a description of their invention and biographical information related to their work, as well as insight into the process of innovation. The archive includes a wide variety of inventors and inventions. The Handbook for Inventors answers frequently asked questions for aspiring inventors and entrepreneurs ranging from "What is Intellectual Property?" and "Is My Idea Patentable?" to "How Do I Raise Capital?" Inventory, a newsletter published 2 times a year, is available in PDF format featuring news about the Awards program and its winners as well as informative articles about the process of invention. The site also has a categorized list of selected invention-related links and resources.
