Nonprofit sector trends and in-depth analysis of financial data
3/19/2001
NCCS serves as a repository for data on the nonprofit sector in the U.S. As a project of the Urban Institute's Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy, the NCCS says its mission is to build compatible national, state, and regional databases that will enable researchers to develop a comprehensive picture of nonprofit sector trends and conduct in-depth analyses of financial data.
For information on particular sectors, click "Fact Sheets" in the "Data" section of the navigation bar. Also available is an extensive range of useful IRS material; click "Databases" for IRS data files, and "IRS Forms" for tax forms. The "State Profiles" link takes you to pages in PDF format containing state-by-state calculations of the number of nonprofit organizations, with figures based on NCCS's State Nonprofit Almanac 1997 and 1998 Core file.
