    The romance of the rails.
    9/10/2001
The National Railway Museum of Britain holds one of the most extensive collections of historic railway material in the world. Rich in details and engaging images, the Museum's Web site is a wonderful resource for both the serious scholar and the railroad buff. One of the most interesting parts of the site is the 'Exhibitlets'—digital exhibitions, that feature materials from the museum's collections. The visitor can explore topics such as the "History of Rail Road Photography" and "Railway Posters." Using wonderful visual images, the exhibits convey the tremendous impact the growth of railroads had on Britain, not only as an economic force, but also in changing the national cultural and social landscape.
