Advancing science and technology for economic growth and human progress
    11/27/2000
Science and technology, according to the OECD's Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry (DSTI), "are the major source of economic growth and human progress, and they will take on greater importance as we move into the 21st century." The DSTI Web site chronicles the organization's effort to identify means of advancing science and technology and provide policy makers with relevant information and analysis. Click on "Reports" and then "Free Online Documents" for a collection of working papers in 16 topical areas, including innovation and technology, biotech, industrial competitiveness policies, and telecommunications and information services. Significant statistical data are also available on topics relating to these areas. The main page also includes news and reports from conferences. Overall, the DSTI site lives up to the OECD's longstanding reputation of providing reliable and relevant information that impacts the global economy.
