Help for U.S. service firms competing in the global economy
    10/23/2000
How does the growing U.S. service sector compete in the constantly changing landscape of international commerce? The U.S. Department of Commerce's Office of Service Industries and Finance aims to help through industry analysis, export development, and support for the negotiation and implementation of global service trade policy. The office, a branch of the International Trade Administration, has packed its Web site full of facts and statistics on the status of the service sector, plus guidance on exporting and marketing services overseas, and updates on international agreements. The latter section includes a detailed guide to the Global Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and other global and regional pacts. It's a valuable resource for U.S. service firms pursuing a place in the global economy.
