Blogs? They are so yesterday. Podcasting is the rage of the next fifteen minutes—using the power of the Web to create and distribute audio downloads, everything from one person's ramblings on, well, anything, to the audio journal of a team climbing Mount Everest, to the reports of a priest podcasting from Pope John Paul II's funeral. Like blogs a few years ago, the commercial viability of podcasting is suspected but still theoretical. Virgin Radio has created an advertiser-funded podcast, but such commercial ventures, while growing, are still few and far between.
This site, produced as an adjunct to the Corante blog, collects news, trends, and analysis of the podcast world, and also creates its own podcasts. This is a good place to start to follow the development of this exciting new medium.
