A view of the world from the Library of Congress.
7/28/2003
For the global executive (or domestic executive with a global business, for that matter) the Web is a great resource for finding country information. One of the strongest resources is the Library of Congress Web site's "Portals to the World" section, which offers links to a wide range of information on dozens of countries, with topics including education, embassies, geography and environment, national security, and society. What makes this resource a cut above, say, the CIA World Factbook, is that the links are selected by the Library's area specialists. The sources used by the specialists include academic experts, in-country sources, and the Library's own extensive reports on countries.
