The new Retail Geography.
3/17/2003
Building on previous research covering spatial modeling in the retail industry, the authors explore strategies for planning your all-important distribution network. Emphasizing the importance of geographical location, the authors explore the impact of e-commerce on the retail supply/demand cycle. Chapters also cover strategic issues such as branch performance, store openings, closures, and relocations. The use of geographic spatial modeling (via GIS) is applied to territory creation, site planning, and distribution modeling. Case studies from the automotive and financial services sectors illustrate how using computational power helps solve locational problems while achieving network optimization.
