    The Emerging Markets Companion

    http://www.emgmkts.com
    10/12/1999
The Emerging Markets Companion, or EMC, is probably the best-known place on the Web for freely available information about the emerging markets of Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The developers of this two-year-old site have brought together an impressive and wide-ranging group of information partners to provide news, analysis, commentary, and data for investors, managers, and academics alike. Emerging-market news from Bloomberg  and Bridge Financial Services is combined with commentary from Stone & McCarthy, Credit Lyonnais, and other regional and international sources. EMC's "Asset Pricing" section provides up-to-date data on emerging-market stock exchanges, bonds, currencies, and other instruments. The "Research" area offers market reviews and analysis, plus background on emerging-market investing. There are links to other emerging-market sites, including excellent online country- and region-specific financial resources. The design of the site could use some sprucing up — you'll find yourself doing a lot of scrolling, and navigation is not up to the standards of most good Web sites — but that's a minor irritant in light of the wealth of good information available here.
