Practice vs. Theory: Getting IT done.
5/26/2003
As HBS professor Lynda Applegate writes in her foreword to The Executives' Guide, one result of the economic downfall in the 1990s is that "business executives have begun to wrest control from IT executives who have failed to step up to the challenge of running IT units as a business." This new volume, written by IT management consultants John Paschab and Jon Piot, is a hands-on, checklist-driven approach to giving executives the right tools to get IT back in line with business objectives. It includes useful tools, provided in an online toolkit, to help executives measure the current state (and real costs) of IT, prioritize projects, create IT steering committees for better oversight, and get IT more closely aligned with an organization's crucial strategies.
