The Facility Manager's Emergency Preparedness Handbook

Be proactive about emergency response planning.
    8/25/2003
When the tornado siren blows in the middle of a conference call, what do you do? For operations managers, a predetermined checklist of action steps provides a prepared response to ensure the safety of their staff and buildings. Emergencies include everything from natural disasters and accidents to workplace violence and bomb threats. In the wake of September 11, understanding the vulnerabilities involved in such emergencies is increasingly important for guaranteeing life safety and property protection. From factories to corporate offices, the authors encourage managers to develop an emergency response plan based on the needs of their facility and to communicate and practice this plan with all employees in that work environment. The handbook provides a comprehensive how-to, complete with detailed instructions, checklists, forms, and resources. (Related story.)
