In The Financial Numbers Game: Detecting Creative Accounting Practices, accounting professors Charles W. Mulford and Eugene E. Comiskey help managers and financial statement users navigate the labyrinth of financial reporting. Using real-life examples, they show how the game is played and how the SEC responds to various types of creative and fraudulent accounting practices. But they also explain how managers can leverage the built-in flexibility of GAAP while staying squeaky clean.
