The Harvard Business School Guide to Careers in the Nonprofit Sector

    2/8/2000
This handbook by a recent HBS graduate (MBA '99) provides a wealth of straight talk and resources for anyone who's considering a career in nonprofits or social enterprise. It provides background on career choices in areas ranging from culture and the arts to community development to international relief organizations. Better still are the many profiles of previous HBS graduates who have made their lives in the social sector. They offer their views on issues such as "Bringing Banking Skills to Combat Urban Poverty" and "Blazing a Trail in International Economic Development." "Life is short," says Priscilla Cohen (MBA '88), a philanthropic consultant, "and at the end of the day you have to feel that you've done something worthwhile. I do."
