Calvin Klein uncovered.
12/1/2003
Calvin Klein is known for many thingshe built a multibillion-dollar fashion powerhouse, pioneered global products, flaunted sexy ads that attacked American Puritanism, and developed the idea of affordable designer jeans, to name four. His rise from a Bronx childhood to copy boy at Women's Wear Daily to becoming a leading light in the fashion world is a fascinating tale of entrepreneurial genius documented well in The House of Klein. CK's advertising alone could fill chapters in a marketing manual; starting with the infamous 1980 Brooke Shields commercial ("Do you know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing."). One negative: Klein refused to be interviewed for the book. The author is a fashion writer for the New York Post.
