Nonprofit perspectives from a national leadership coalition
3/14/2000
The Independent Sector, a national coalition and leadership forum made up of leading foundations, nonprofit organizations and Fortune 500 corporations with community involvement programs, offers a vibrant site which reflects the evolving world of nonprofits in both an international and national framework. Membership is fee-based (and restricted to qualifying organizations), but there is plenty of information freely available on the site. Highlights include updates on legislation, a publications bookstore, news of nonprofits in the media, and links to the full text of speeches given by leaders throughout the world. The coalition also produces a number of newsletters with interviews and helpful information on philanthropy, volunteering, not-for-profit initiative and citizen action. It will take some poking around to find all of the information that goes beyond description of the organization and its programs, but it's well worth the effort.
