The Purchasing Machine: How the Top Ten Companies Use Best Practices to Manage Their Supply Chains

Secrets of the supply chain management leaders
    6/11/2001
This book stands out by identifying not only the leading SCM companies, but also the leaders behind those companies. The authors conducted over 1,000 hours of interviews and on-site visits among 247 purchasing managers to determine the 10 top companies that excel at the 20 best practices of supply chain management. Managers within companies such as SmithKline Beecham, Whirlpool, and John Deere are among those leading the way. As stated in their introduction, "During the study our focus moved somewhat to listen to what the leaders had to say, because we came to the conclusion that they made all the difference."
