A look at NAFTA's effects on North American business.
3/10/2003
Written to bring attention to issues regarding country relations between Canada, Mexico, and the United States and the effects NAFTA is having on North American business, the issues discussed in this book are of importance to all managers at companies doing business across country borders. As in a merger, countries, too, must find common ground on which to build trust and strengthen productive relationships. One chapter is devoted to outlining cultural differences between the NAFTA countries while another chapter discusses skills and competencies managers must have to keep these differences from becoming barriers. The pros and cons of NAFTA, its implementation, and its future are inconclusively debated, but one of the more interesting chapters highlights activities of companies that have found ways to "contribute to socially cohesive communities
the formation of common value systems
and promote diversity and meritocracy."
