Wheels for the World: Henry Ford, His Company, and a Century of Progress

Ford Motor Company's first 100 years.
    6/30/2003
Henry Ford and his Model T changed the face of America, introducing an affordable product for most Americans and giving them the freedom to go anywhere at any time. Currently the fourth-largest company in the world, Ford Motor Company has been a leading influence on American business and culture since being established by Henry Ford in June 1903. In this year of centennial celebrations, Douglas Brinkley, a historian at the University of New Orleans, has contributed an extensive history of the man and his company. Drawing upon previously closed corporate archives, Brinkley examines the company from its early days when "it was a pioneer's domain, where old assumptions about business were cast out in favor of fresh notions," to the corporation today.
