How changing families change the workplace.
10/9/2001
In the twenty-first century it will be increasingly difficult to define the typical family, even for the white middle class. Professor Rosanna Hertz and Nancy L. Marshall, Senior Researcher at Wellesley College, deliver an important study focusing on the influence of the changing family structure on the workplace. Stressing the interdisciplinary nature of this topic, Hertz and Marshall bring together perspectives from a variety of disciplines involved in examining the relationship of work and family with emphasis on the role of race, ethnicity, social class and gender. In their effort to present a realistic and balanced view of this issue, the editors pool contributions from scholars as well as researchers in the private sector representing different theoretical viewpoints.
