Trends and events in compensation and workplace rewards
8/21/2000
Attracting, motivating, and retaining talent is perhaps the greatest challenge facing industry in the knowledge economy. It's also the focus of the 25,000 member professional association WorldatWork. Formerly known as the American Compensation Association, the organization's recent name change is a reflection of its emphasis on "total rewards," including not just compensation and benefits, but other components of the work experience as well, such as work/life balance, recognition, culture, professional development and work environment issues. Portions of the research conducted by the association are available in the Information Central portion of their Web site. Highlights include an extensive summary of the annual Total Salary Increase Budget Survey, plus a diverse collection of research reports, topic briefings and a daily newsline. Some parts of the site are restricted to members, but overall this is a useful source for managers keeping abreast of trends and events affecting compensation and workplace reward systems.
